About Jim Corbett National Park
The Corbett National Park is located in the Nainital district of Uttarakhand, which is a part of the larger Corbett Tiger Reserve, a Project Tiger Reserve. Corbett National Park was established in 1936. This park is very important to India because it is one of the oldest parks in the country and it is also very prestigious.
It is also known as the site where Project Tiger was unveiled for the first time in 1973. The whole of this area is 520 square kilometers and it has a variety of features including hills, marshy depressions, riverine belts, grasslands and a large lake.
It is one of the few tiger preserves in India where visitors can stay for a night on the lap of the National Park.
The park offers nature viewing and wildlife sightings in a four-wheel-drive Jeep driven open air, as well as elephant riding.
The preserve, which protects a healthy colony of tigers as well as rare species like otters and the endemic fish-eating crocodile, is one of the most popular destinations for wildlife lovers.
The Corbett National Park has been divided into 5 zones.
Bijrani Safari Zone : Because of its great natural beauty and open grasslands, the Bijrani Zone is a popular tourism destination. The zone’s entrance is only 1 km distant from Ramnagar city.
Jhirna Safari Zone : Jhirna is another safari zone in Jim Corbett National Park that is open all year round. Jhirna Gate is located 16 kilometers from Ramnagar city.
Dhela Safari Zone : In November 2014, the Dhela eco tourism zone was established in Corbett National Park as part of the tiger reserve zone. This is the only area in Corbett Tiger Reserve’s outside buffer accessible to tourists.
Dhikala Zone : Dhikala is well-known for its stunning natural wonders and the finest view of exotic animals. Ramnagar city is 18 kilometers from the Dhikala Tourism Zone’s main entrance.
Durga Devi Zone : Durga Devi zone, located on the north-eastern edge of Jim Corbett National Park, is heaven on earth for bird watchers. The entrance is at a distance of 36 kilometers from Ramnagar city.
Sitabani Buffer Zone : The Sitabani Range Zone is not part of the Corbett Tiger Reserve. If you like the calm beauty of nature, you must go to the Sitabani area.
